All my bags are packed!
I leave the cape tomorrow midday to take our dogs to the breeder for a 6 week extended stay with their aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. I'll then stay at a hotel by Logan Airport to make my 6:10 am departure time see a bit less bothersome. I fly to Salt Lake City then switch planes to fly into Santa Barbara arriving about 12:30 pm.
Over a 6 week trip, we have the potential to encounter just about any type of weather. For example, in the first two weeks, we will be biking through the desert where the temperature may well be over 100 as well as biking over at 10,500' pass before descending into Taos. We will be riding rain or shine, hot or cold, windy or calm (but hopefully no sleet or snow). This means bringing one or more of just about every type of cycling clothes I have. Additionally, since I am using my own bike, I need replacement parts such as derailleur hangers, spokes, and brake pads which are bike specific. Throw in two pairs of biking shoes, helmet, my regular clothes, my favorite sports drink mix and GU packets, etc. and I am feeling pretty good about fitting into these 3 manageable bags.
I expect to post again from Santa Barbara Tuesday evening.
