Day 24: Stillwater to Tulsa

This morning, one of our more exuberant riders made this frost angel in the grass in front of our hotel. In other words, it was cold at the start of our ride.

However, for the first time since the grand canyon, there was no wind. After so many days of 15-30 mph winds, this was a great treat. Also, with the clear sky, the temperatures began to rise quickly once the sun had been up for an hour or so.

Our ride today was 95 miles into Tulsa. The route was on back roads, and was generally full of rolling hills.

A bit over halfway through our ride, we crossed over the Arkansas River.

We then spent time biking in and out of the adjacent hills, viewing tributaries such as this.

Periodically, as we bike along, we see old oil derricks. While many are still operational, many others such as this one, are skeletons left over from the past.

Towards the end of our ride, we crossed over this dam which makes Shell Lake. Overall, today was a lovely day of riding. That being said, I am looking forward to tomorrow which is a rest day.
