Day 28: Springfield MO to Willow Springs MO
Today's ride from Springfield to Willow Springs was a mixture of country roads to start but then significant stretches on route 60 which is a 4 lane divide highway in this area.
Our departure from Springfield brought us through farm country.
Just to show that not all barns are red or white.
All joking aside, riding on back roads through farmland is a real delight.
While I had seen countless horses and cows, these goats were a different sight.
I took this photo when one of my riding companions mentioned that the Trek website did not seem to have any photos of 4 lane highways in the trip description. At least this highway had generally wide and smooth shoulders.
Even from the highway, there can occasionally be nice views.
Shortly before we finished up, we had a short section of gravel road.
As we were riding on the main street in Willow Springs, I saw this drawing on the side of a slightly dilapidated building.
Remarkably, we are now two thirds of the way through the trip. My legs are feeling good. While I am not sure how much stronger I have gotten, I have certainly become used to riding longer. Today's 91 miles seemed very reasonable. Tomorrows ride is only 57 miles, which will seem very short compared to the centuries we have been frequently riding.
