Day 38: Asheville NC to Greenville SC

Today was a ride of mist and fog from Asheville NC to Greenville SC.

Like most days, I was up before the sun. Today I happened to shoot a photo of the first bits of light in the clouds.

We headed out of Asheville through some nice neighborhoods in and around the Biltmore Estate.

We then popped up onto the Blue Ridge Parkway for a short way to the south. We left the parkway just after crossing the French Broad River pictured here.

The morning was full of misty views of the surrounding hills.

I loved the contrast of the vibrant green field and orange tree with the mist shrouded hills behind.

Choosing which pictures made today's blog was challenging as there were many photos that I liked.

About two thirds of the way through today's ride, we entered our 13th and final state, South Carolina.

We made the final significant climb of our trip up to the top of Ceasar's Head which ordinarily has a fabulous view. Today's view was a bit less than spectacular as this photo shows. The descent from Ceasar's Head required some care as the roads were wet and the visibility was quite poor through the fog.

Tomorrow is our last long ride, 117 miles to Columbia. After that, just a 92 mile ride to Lake City then 77 miles to Myrtle Beach on Tuesday.
