XC Day 13 - Piseco NY to Ticonderoga NY

Today was an amazing day of biking: the best combination of scenery, weather, and roads of the trip by far. The only things about today which was not amazing was how my legs were doing. My calves, which started bothering me yesterday, were struggling even more today. However, when a day is this good, I just pedal in an easier gear and do my best to ignore my legs.

Like yesterday, the day started out cloudy and foggy in places with temperatures in the mid 50s. The clouds cleared during the day and temperatures rose to the mid 70s.

We spent the day biking through the Adirondack Mountains which were stunning.

The roads we were on weaved through colorful woods, quiet lakes, and numerous streams.

Today’s blog will simply be a collection of landscape photos from the ride.

Here is a nice shot of the fog and low clouds..

In addition to the views, the roads themselves were very good. This one was absolutely brand new.

New smooth roads makes cycling so much more pleasurable.

We passed over and by streams both small and large.

The views just of the road were terrific to look at.

And around every corner was another amazing view.

If you looked sideways, there were often hidden treats between the trees.

The colors have really started to come out.

I expect that we will continue to have terrific biking for the remaining 3 days of the trip.

Tomorrow, we start here in NY, bike all the way across Vermont, and end in Hanover NH.

The following day, we bike the width of New Hampshire ending in North Conway.

On Thursday, we then bike across the lower portion of Maine to finish at the Atlantic Ocean in Portland.

The weather looks good for the next 3 days with partially sunny skies and high temperatures in the 70s.

I am hoping that my legs will feel a bit better over the next 3 days, but if not, I will still manage. With scenes and weather like yesterday and today, it is easy to push through the discomfort of too many miles biking relative to my fitness.

Finally, in today’s ride, we biked along Lake George into Ticonderoga.
