XC Day 16 - North Conway NH to Portland ME
Today we biked from North Conway NH to the Atlantic Ocean just south of Portland ME.Here is a photo of me with Jesse and Ruth. I am so happy for and proud of all of the riders who made it across the entire country. It really is an enormous accomplishment. This group has been terrific to ride with.
Today started in fog and ended in fog as well.
I do not have many photos from the NH portion of the ride, but here is one more.
At mile 10 of today’s ride, we got to Maine, my 8th state, the rest of the group’s 15th state, but most importantly, the last state.
Much of the ride in Maine was on relatively busy roads, so we were in a pace line. I do not have pictures from those stretches. However, here is one from one of the back roads.
One last red barn photo for the blog.
As we got near the coast south of Portland, we could begin to smell the salt water.
We rode on a gravel bike path up the coast.
As we crossed over brackish tributaries, we knew we were getting very close.
We had one short stretch inland before the final bit to the beach.
Here we are entering Crescent Beach State Park, our ending point.
Below are some photos of my fellow bikers celebrating their accomplishment.
