Arrived at Monnaber Hotel in Mallorca
I arrived at the Monnaber Hotel in Mallorca about 2pm local time today. The hotel has multiple buildings. Pictured above is the cycling station. My room happens to be in this building with the entrance just to the left of this picture.
My flight from Boston was notable only in that I was not able to get any sleep. It was an early red eye, with a scheduled departure a bit after 5pm which makes going to sleep difficult. The flight had some moderate turbulence which also made sleeping difficult. After a 4 hour layover, I flew into Palma, Mallorc which is on the south west coast. I then rented a car and drove to the hotel which is in the northern mountains as shown by the blue arrow.
The photo below is of the main building. After checking in and doing some unpacking, I took a 90 minute nap which was very restorative.
In what felt like no time whatsoever, I found it had turned dark and was time for dinner. Here is a photo of the pool complex in the evening that I took as I headed to the dining area shown in the subsequent photo.
I can already tell that this will be a great food week. Tonight’s dinner was outstanding. Here is a photo of my squid ravioli drizzled with squid ink.
I wrapped up the evening chatting for over an hour with doctor from Germany who is here alone for a medical class.
I am looking forward to getting on the bike tomorrow. Tomorrow’s ride will be a relatively short one, likely only about 30-40 miles.
Good night everyone.
