Mallorca Ride 1

Today, our meet up was scheduled for 11:00 am, but I arrived a bit early. I got my bike set up then went off on a ride with one of the other riders, John, who had also showed up early. Our ride today was 45 miles with about 4000’ of climbing, so of a moderate length but a fair bit of climbing for the miles. We haded north from the hotel towards the coast. Initially the ride was fairly flat with scenery like this shot.

As we got a bit farther, the road turned upwards and we started our first real climb of the day. This is a picture of my riding companion, John, on the first climb.

After the climb, we descended for a while then were rewarded with our first views of the water.

Then it was back to climbing some more. This will be a recurrent theme for this trip.

We got to a turn around point at this reservoir. Throughout our ride, we had seen many goats running around, one of which I captured in this photo.

We looped back towards to the hotel using a different route than the one that we had ridden out. Here we are passing a grove of what I assume are some fruit trees.

I am looking forward to tomorrow. Our scheduled ride is somewhat longer at 58 miles, but may have a bit less climbing than today.
