Day 34: Nashville - 2 Rivers and a Lake
Today was our rest day which also translates to laundry day. After finishing my domestic chores, I decided to take a ride along the Music City Bikeway which runs along a couple of rivers ending up at J. Percy Priest Lake.
I started the ride by heading out of downtown Nashville, passing by the courthouse, then crossing the Cumberland River on a bike bridge.
The bike path along the river was terrific until there was a bridge out requiring a detour. The detour was a dirt path which was still slightly muddy from yesterday's rains. As a result, riding was a bit challenging at times, especially on curves, since my road tires had very little traction.
Here is a photo of the Cumberland River perhaps 6 miles upstream from Nashville.
I think this guy might get the award for slowest pedestrian on the bike path. I saw him take just a single step while I got off my bike and took this photo.
The bike path left the Cumberland River and followed the Stones River up to the J. Percy Priest Dam.
Biking across the dam and along the edge of the lake, I reached a park with a nice view.
Retracing my route, this photo was taken on the bike path back along the Stones River.
And finally, this is one of the bike path bridges across the Cumberland River.
As it turns out, today's ride put me over 10,000 miles of biking for the year. #milestone
