Day 35: Nashville to Cookeville
Today we rode from Nashville to Cookeville, the first of five hard days covering 550 mile and over 30,000' of climbing.
The start of the ride was along the bike path I rode yesterday. We were out earlier in the morning, so we happened to see some deer along the way.
The temperature was in the low 40s when we left, so mist was rising from the river.
After about 10 miles on the bike path and another 10 miles through some suburban and industrial areas, we finally reached the country roads.
We have been very fortunate with the weather on this trip, with countless days of completely blue skies. Tomorrow looks wonderful as well.
This was an abandoned building right at the T of an intersection. Perhaps in the summertime it is, or once was, a farm stand selling fresh produce.
This was a beautiful little cemetery with fresh flowers on some of the graves. However, the building behind it once was a simple church, but now is abandoned and falling apart.
This was one of the few large and flat fields we saw during the second half of the ride. The terrain was very hilly as the horizon shows. The next two days are both around 120 miles each with lots of climbing, so I expect to see (too) many of these hills.
