XC Day 9 - Bradford PA to Corning NY
Today we rode another 100 miles and entered New York. My fellow riders are noticing the end coming quite quickly. We have another 100 mile ride tomorrow, then a rest day Saturday, then just 5 more days riding to get to Portland Maine on Thursday.
Today we started off heading directly into the sun. It really was blinding at times. The temperature was quite chilly, about 46 degrees to start, but within the first 10 miles, we entered a valley which the sun had not hit. There, the temperatures dipped to the upper 30s to low 40s.
Most of the photos I post were taken while riding my bike. For a change, I pointed the camera at myself rather than outwards for this shorty while riding.
While the sun was still low, there were pockets of fog throughout the landscape.
During the early morning, we had a couple of nice back roads.
During the late morning and afternoon, we were mostly on more primary roads although often the traffic was quite light.
I snapped this photo just because I thought the car was fun and also to point out that the scenery is not always red barns.
Although, it is often red barns…..
While somewhat chilly, the weather was lovely today, and the temperature warmed up gradually,
This is one of my favorite signs to see, especially when we are on a freshly paved road like this one.
We are definitely seeing more color in the trees. We have not really entered sugar maple country with the fabulous colors of the maple trees.
I liked this picture with the purple flowers up front. I am absolutely not a plant person, so I have no idea what sorts of plants have been populating my photos. I just know that many of them are quite lovely.
A couple of horses and miniature ponies in this field.
And finally, another red barn and corn field photo to end things tonight.
Heading to bed. My legs were surprisingly good today given how dead they were at the end of yesterday’s ride. Hopefully, they will continue to be strong tomorrow.
